Introduction
In order to further the development of international student education and attract more outstanding international students to study in Shanghai, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission established the Shanghai Government Scholarships (SGS) for International Students in 2005. It offers funds to prospective international students to pursue a bachelor’s degree or higher at institutions of higher education in Shanghai.
For the moment, SGS is only available to Intercultural Communication Studies(MA) program.
Eligibility
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens and be in good health;
Applicants should not be awardees of other Chinese Government scholarships at the same time.
Age below 35.
Coverage and Standards
SGS Class A Scholarship covers the following:
Tuition Fees .
A double room in the school dormitory shared with another students arranged by the school.
A monthly stipend of RMB3000.

SGS Class B Scholarship covers the following:
Tuition Fees .

The candidates should submit their application online by themselves as soon as they receive the formal Admission Letter from STA. (http://www.study-shanghai.org/Scholarship_en.asp)
The online submission deadline: June 30
Materials Required:
Valid foreign passport
Academic record of the highest educational level. Non-Chinese or non-English ones should be attached with notarized version in Chinese or English;
Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors of the colleges or universitys the applicants graduated from;
